On November 4, 2021, the Ministry of Planning, in collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development and Cambodia Indigenous Peoples Alliance (CIPA) organized the virtual launching ceremony of the National Report on the Demographic and Socio–Economic Situation of Indigenous Peoples in Cambodia via Zoom and live streaming at Himawari Hotel. The launching ceremony was presided over by H.E. Kitti Settha Pandita CHHAY THAN Senior Minister, Minister of Planning, and H.E. DR. Ouk Rabun, Minister of Rural Development, with more than 500 participants from government institutions and ministries, representatives of the embassies in the Kingdom of Cambodia, development partners, representatives of relevant authorities and departments from the capital city, provinces, districts, communes, and villages, universities, relevant civil society organizations and representatives of indigenous communities from 15 provinces: Ratanak Kiri, Mondul Kiri, Kratie, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, Pursat, Battambang, Koh Kong, Oddor Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Preah Sihanouk, Siem Reap and Kampong Speu. The dissemination event lasted for a full morning from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
The main purposes of disseminating the National Report on Socio–Economic Situation of Indigenous Peoples in Cambodia are (1) to share information on the demographic and socio economic situation of indigenous peoples living in Cambodia to all stakeholders at all levels, the national and sub–national; and (2) to serve as an important basis for providing direction for indigenous peoples development planning and further research.
