  1. Organization Background

The Cambodia Indigenous Peoples Organization (CIPO) was established on June 30, 2014, and registered with the Ministry of Interior (SOR CHOR NOR No. 1352). It was initially known as the Indigenous Peoples (IP)-led and managed organization that combines the most advanced knowledge regarding IPs (both locally and globally) and Cambodian society with the ability to respond and creatively address the needs of the IPs in Cambodia.

CIPO’s vision aims for IPs to have self-determination on development and conservation within the multi-cultural society of Cambodia. It promotes Indigenous Rights and sustainability in the development of Indigenous communities through the strengthening of the Indigenous spirit of land ownership, natural resource management, economic development, and the preservation of culture and traditions. It also has a clear goal of building the capacity and empowerment of Indigenous peoples to lead IPs to have solidarity and participate in land and natural resources management, conservation of identity and culture, and socio/economic development. CIPO’s mission is to strengthen the capacity and support the strategic initiative of the IPs in land and natural resources management, conservation of identity and culture, and socio/economic development.

  1. Overall Objective of position as Project Assistant:

The key objectives of Project Assistant are responsible to support and work closely with project staff to make sure the project activities are implemented and achieved its objectives, outputs of project “Indigenous Navigator – From Data to Action: Realizing Indigenous Self-Determination’’ following are the details of key roles and responsibilities.

  1. Key Responsible for this project
    • Policy
      • Ensure the fulfillment of the respect in implementation of CIPO by law, all policies and other decision making made by the Executive Director and management team as well as the donors’ agreements.
      • Jointly with CIPO organizational leadership in provide the guidance for promote and improve the policies and others internal development.
    • External Relations and Development
      • Where appropriate work with project team to develop regional and international links that have the potential to benefit CIPO.
      • Work with managements team and project officer/advisor as appropriate to develop CIPO’s marketing and publicity strategies.
      • Ensure that all necessary management information systems needed to support the development of organization strategies are in place.
    • Generally
      • Appointing as the acting- PO once PO absence and requested.
      • Will supports the PO and management team on any others assigned reasonable tasks requested by the PO and Management team, or as required by donors, government, target communities or other entities, which contributes to the work and objectives of the project and organization.
  1. Expect Results delivery:

Under the projects, PA are expected to deliver the key tasks as the following:

  • Support to write a concept note and prepare budget plan for all the implementing activities.
  • Update weekly progress of project implementation including project monitoring and track record.
  • Write a monthly report of result that has been working for a month period.
  • Prepare a draft latter invitation to the stakeholder such as government agencies, UN agencies, donors, and partners organization.
  • Responsible to write a post description including photos, videos, and short article of the project activities that has been implemented to the communication to share on CIPO social media.
  • Support the PO to organize a national and community workshop/training.
  • Communicate and work closely with Indigenous community to organize the meeting, workshop or training in their community.
  • Support in data collection, input data and documents translation.
  • Support PO to input all the collected data into the Indigenous Navigator web portal.
  1. Target Focus:

Project assistant will be responsible to support project staffs to implement the project activities of 2026 in 4 target provinces includes Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kompong Speu and Pursat Provinces.

  1. Timeframe: (1year)

The working timeframe of PA is Annual Contract will work as full time from 8.00-12.00 am (morning) and 2.00pm-5.00pm.  The date of working is from 1st June 2026 to 30th June 2027 and can be extended based on the result of mid-term appraisal and budget available from donors. If not, the contract will be ended by 30th June 2027.

Project Assistant’s salary based on the scale under negotiate, and benefit as the following monthly salary is including Tax and benefit Includes

  5. Qualifications
    • Be an indigenous and honest person.
    • Have good background, knowledge, and experience on indigenous people’s rights especially on the traditional knowledge.
    • Be willing and committed to supporting the indigenous people’s community and partners at all levels.
    • Knowledge of participatory engagement and alternative learning approaches.
    • Be able to work under pressure and based on good time management practices.
    • Have good relationships and good interpersonal communication skills with IPs, also with all kinds of government authorities and civil society.
    • Ability to facilitate groups and be willing to work as part of a dynamic team.
    • Be fluent in Khmer.
    • Preferably have a good command of English.
    • Be fast and clear in report writing and communication.
    • Be an honest and dedicated person.
    • Have at least bachelor’s degree related fields.
